  • Quality assurance testing of various applications shipped with the distribution, including participation in testing/debugging components of packages designated as the ‘base system’.
  • Maintainership of all Mozilla-based applications within the distribution, including Mozilla Application Suite, Firefox, Thunderbird, Nvu, Gecko-SDK and others.
  • Coordinate Mozilla application releases with other developers whose packages list Mozilla applications as dependencies, including those of the GNOME project
  • Act as a liaison between the Mozilla Organisation and the Gentoo Linux project, coordinating releases and sending bugfixes upstream when appropriate

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, TRANSGAMING TECHNOLOGIES

2006 – 2009

  • Duties included network services management, including e-mail administration, network security, internet connectivity, and user management
  • Replaced aging core network infrastructure with corporate firewalls based on CentOS 5, Shorewall and OpenVPN and replaced the core router with an embedded security appliance booting Vyatta OFR from Solid State Disk for more effective management, monitoring and traffic control
  • Shifted telephony for TransGaming’s Ottawa office from traditional PBX service to a VoIP system based around the Asterisk open source PBX software and SIP phone sets, preserving all features of the former telephone system as well as introducing new ones and trained staff on the new system
  • Implemented snapshot based backup systems for hour/day/week/month incremental snapshots of all source code repositories, databases and website staging areas
  • Implemented fileserver upgrades and created a plan for the ongoing expansion of TransGaming’s storage needs
  • Provisioning and maintenance of Microsoft, Linux, and Apple workstations and servers, including the development of a documented method of provisioning intel-based Apple workstations configured with both GNU/Linux and Windows in addition to MacOS X
