Remember, Google merged with Doubleclick, the biggest purveyor of spyware cookies on the Internet. Google Analytics is just more of the same. Don't believe Google's "don't be evil" astroturf. If the information you glean from my IP addy in your logs isn't enough to satiate your hunger for profit assisting information, then put me on your payroll and compensate me for allowing you the privilege of having your script run on my computer. It's quite useful information and no more an invasion of privacy than a random person being able to see your face in a crowd. Site admins always track usage.
