Google Analytics is spyware. Plain and simple. I wish my ISP would block it, but since they don't, I am blocking it on my own machine. Remember, Google merged with Doubleclick, the biggest purveyor of spyware cookies on the Internet. Google Analytics is just more of the same. Don't believe Google's "don't be evil" astroturf. They are.

The Supreme Court rules that I have sovereign authority to block whatever I please, that your right to free speech (or scripting, tracking, spying as the case may be) ends at my network perimeter. If the information you glean from my IP addy in your logs isn't enough to satiate your hunger for profit assisting information, then put me on your payroll and compensate me for allowing you the privilege of having your script run on my computer.

Site admins always track usage. Server logs are maintained on every major server which track your source IP, the page you came in on, the page you came from if one referred you, and the other areas of the website which you visited. This is an implicitly known fact. Google Analytics simply extends this information by telling site admins things like: How long did a browser spend on a particular page?

It's quite useful information and no more an invasion of privacy than a random person being able to see your face in a crowd.

Your kidding right? Your job is simple create the page, manage it and thats that! You don't need to know anything about us or where we come from. If you want to know about us just place a comment/suggestion box or we the users will gladly tell you our opinions rather than to be spied on.
